Where to start writing this post about my sweet, sweet friend Natalee.  Our friendship started in the summer after my freshman year of college when I traveled alone to upstate NY to work at a Young Life camp on Lake Saranac.  Natalee (who we call Gnat, pronounced G-Nat) aka Gnasty, aka Gnastytru, aka Tru, aka The Queen of Bib City, is one of those girls whom you just know is going to be a friend for life.  Obviously she has to be a friend for life because of the ridiculousness of all of her amazing nicknames!  There are not many college memories that don't include Gnat.  Even though she lived in GA and I in NC, holidays and school breaks were planned around our next adventure together.  Late night talks (before everyone had unlimited talk time on their cell phones), getting her opinion on EVERYTHING, seeing her get one degree after another:), celebrating her sis getting married in one of the first weddings I ever shot, and having too many inside jokes to count...This girl is someone that means so much to me!

I'll never forget the first time we met- she had traveled from GA to camp and was wearing lime green pants and a hot pink shirt(because she said she had to "Dress Up" when going on an airplane).  The airlines lost her luggage and she had to wear this getup for 2 whole days!!  I don't think she is ever going to live that one down:)  We kept calling her a starburst(in the most loving way possible) and her good nature could joke with the best of them.  I also should have known that I would be forever adopted into her life when we were setting up our bunk beds in summer staff housing and for a 30 day stay away from home, Gnat brought approximately 358 photos of her friends and family back home, which she loving taped to the wall beside her bed. But thats just Natalee.  One "typical Gnat" moment happened when she came for a visit right before I had Sharpe.  We had a birthing class planned- it was like 3 hours long.  Gnat didn't mind, we set her on the couch and headed to class.  When we came back, she was watching Lifetime movie network(we don't have cable, not just Lifetime Channel, the LMN channel, which is its own whole level of sad) and she and Darby were both laid down on the couch spooning. I think she was mad at us for coming home, haha!

We have prayed for her future husband for over a decade.  I had 100% confidence those prayers would be answered, but I don't think any one of us could have dreamed up Brad.  While he took his time arriving, he is the perfect man for Gnat.  I was more than honored to be with my friend on her wedding day and be witness to their love.  I know sideways rain and gail force winds weren't the vision they had in their heads when planning, but the day was one of the most perfect days I have ever been a part of.  Their personalized vows, which they somehow managed to read to each other, were from the deepest place in their hearts and it was so joyous to see Gnat find Her One.  Brad, I can't wait to get to know you more in the many years to come(you're stuck with me, pal;)) and to see how the Lord is going to work in and through both of you.  Love ya'll!

I have loved getting to know Marycobb and Aaron over the past year!  I don't think a freezing cold and rainy day with winds gusting everywhere is the wedding day that Marycobb and Aaron had in mind, but they both rolled with the punches, and thankfully the Duke Chapel had its amazing arches which still allowed us some natural light shooting!  Their first look really helped as well...I  can't speak enough about doing a first look, especially when there is bad weather looming.  Having this time can really save your portraits...specifically the romantic photos of the day.  It gives us more time to think and brainstorm our options when we are presented with limited shooting spots.   I loved the glitzy theme that Marycobb and her sweet mom had all planned out- the bridesmaids dresses were so GLAM!  Everything was beautiful and the reception at Bay 7 was to die for!  Such a perfect venue!,Guests danced the night away and it was such fun:)  Thank you MC and Aaron for letting us spend such a special time with you guys!  Enjoy these favorites!

I joked about Mary Catherine being her town's "sweetheart" in her bridal post....but the reality is, thats just REALLY true:)  These two had so much love and support surrounding them on their wedding day!  Ethan's father married them in the church he pastors and they had an amazing reception on Mary Catherine's parents farm property.  These two have been dating since high school, so everyone turned out to show them so much support and dance the night away!  I have loved working with MC and her mom over the past year +...it is super rewarding to see their whole wedding come to fruition just the way they imagined it!  Here are some favorites from their wedding and they have a fusion video coming soon!  Happy Wednesday!

Winter weddings are so special...Especially this one!  Kelsey and Andrew share the same anniversary now that Joe and I do!  We loved getting to work with these two!  Our day may have been a little dreary, but both of their venues allowed for great portrait options even with a little wet weather.  They also opted for a first look which also aided in getting some great photos at their reception site before going to the church.  These two are now living life to the fullest up in NYC and I have to say I am just a little jealous of their big adventure as newlyweds.  Happy Monday everyone and don't forget to watch their Photo Fusion video at the end as well!

Minks are ALWAYS a good idea in winter!

Love this cake shot!

This wink;) adore.

Maggie & Brian- has there ever been a more adorable couple + beautiful wedding party!? It has been such a fun year connecting with Maggie and her sweet and adorable Mom throughout their planning process!  And who knew, after they booked with me, it turns out they live right up the street and our families know each other...I never cease to be amazed at what a small world it is!!!  The Duke Mansion was a vision- it is one of our favorite venues in Charlotte- and you can see why!  What can I say, it was a day of "perfect everything".  When planning an outdoor wedding, there is a certain amount of stress that the bride and groom feel RIGHT UP to the ceremony- so when you get a day like they had- it certainly feels like all is right with the world.  Please take in these beautiful photos- and all of you know I was SO happy with the backlighting we had the whole day:)  Happy photographer!  Don't forget to watch the slideshow at the end for more photos…and look for their Photo Fusion Video coming soon:) Happy Sunday!

Some of the sweetest Maids ever:)

THIS is the backligting I was talking about.  Dream Light!

My shot on the left, Joe's shot on the right….sometimes I am really jealous of his shots.  This is one of those times:)  We make a pretty good team, don't ya think?
