Halloween 2015

Yes, I fully recognize that Halloween isn't until this weekend, but with Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, all of the kid Halloween activities started today! They had to wear their costumes to school, there was a Halloween carnival at our church tonight, and a candy crawl in Downtown Concord Friday afternoon. So! This morning we went ahead and had our photoshoot, because to be honest, I don't know if these costumes will survive to Saturday! I present to you: Captain Hook, Peter Pan and Mr. Smee. And for the record, Sharpe is already over his costume and thinks he can still choose what to be for Halloween when we "walk up the street" on Saturday...and he wants to be a cowboy.  Well, kid, thats nice.

You can see the past Halloween photos here: 2014, 2013, 2012.

Anytime a bride wants to shoot her bridal portraits at The Duke Mansion, I am in photographer heaven!  While it is a little bit of an added expense to rent a portrait time at the mansion(if you aren't having your wedding there), I've not had a bride yet regret it!  The property is so amazing any day of the year and the work they have done out there lately adding in even more amazing English gardens is just incredible.  It is VERY hard to find a portrait spot(aka, basically impossible) that offers both indoor and outdoor locations and I love the variety it offers in a bridal portrait...those checkered floors!  Kristin was such a beauty and I loved her dress from Bellissima, it was two looks in one!  I can't wait to show of their darling wedding soon!  Happy Tuesday!

true love- kelly & eric

So many beautiful engagement sessions this fall! And after this past weekends, "double header" we are officially done with our wedding season save for one December wedding still to go!  In a way it feels like a long year, but in another way, we are finished up earlier than we ever have before, thanks mostly to a lot of planning that I did this time last year as to not overbook myself after the "meltdown of fall 2014".  I only had to shoot 16 weddings in one fall once to know that that schedule absolutely did not work for our family.  It feels to good to have mostly(still a few fun sessions + Santa to shoot) office work before me as we head into November.

So much fun blogging to go! I loved my time spent with Kelly and Eric.  They have THE MOST beautiful dog….although he is a little crotchety:)... He makes up for his with his crazy amazing eyes!  I can't wait to shoot Kelly and Eric's wedding next year at Childress Vineyards- one of our most favorite venues in the area.  Enjoy some favs!

Working with Katie and Jeff over the last year has been such a pleasure.  I love this couple!  Katie used to teach with Joe and I was more than honored when she asked us to photograph her intimate Linville Ridge Country Club wedding.  Set on the side of a mountain, everything Katie planned was just beautiful.  Their family came from near and far and Katie and Jeff rolled out the red carpet for them with a weekend full of amazing events.  The thing with intimate weddings is that the bride and groom can truly be present with their guests, and that was definitely the case here.  Katie set aside time for her whole family to have group portraits and everyone danced the night away.  We were so happy to capture it all, but mostly, to see Katie just so incredibly happy!  They both "caught" each other and I will never forget this day! Enjoy just some of my favorites and don't forget to watch their fusion at the end, it is now one of my top favorites we have ever done. Happy Thursday!

true love- katie and james

These two are such naturals in front of the camera!  I am already so excited for their wedding...their chemistry is very electric and it made my job more than easy!  I honestly just let them do their thing- sessions like this are so fun for me, I can focus more on catching awesome lighting and moments when my couples are just being themselves and interacting with each other.  I know not everyone is a total natural in front of the camera, and I pride myself on getting those couples that feel like they don't know what to do when they see me coming amazing photographs that seem effortless with my relaxed posing and guidance, but I am not gonna lie that is really fun when couples are just themselves, whether I have the camera pointed their way or not!  Enjoy these favorites!
